SAFETY RECALL NOTICE Portable Air Compressors Sold Between 1983 and 1991 In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Ingersoll-Rand Company is voluntarily recalling all Portable Air Compressors sold between 1983 and 1991. The compressors have single-phase electric motors up to 3hp or gasoline engines up to 8 hp and have tank sizes up to 30 gallons. The tanks of these portable air compressors may unexpectedly fail during use due to internal corrosion of the tank wall. The compressors were marketed under the following brand names:
The compressors have serial numbers with the prefixes “C” or “CD”. The compressors have model numbers with the following prefixes:
Serial numbers and model numbers are located on a plate or sticker on the outside housing of the air compressor or affixed to an internal floor baffle beneath a removable plastic cabinet. Hardware and construction supply stores nationwide sold the air compressors for between $150 and $400. |
